Growing up on the Sunshine Coast, meant Brianna had a love for the beach life. Throughout her schooling she represented Sunshine Coast Grammar School in many different sports including, kayaking, pool lifesaving, surf lifesaving, cross country, surfing, rugby 7’s, soccer, softball and athletics. Her passion for anything sport really developed through her time at school and it the set the foundations for her love of teams.
In 2013 Brianna took up kayaking in hope to improve her ski paddling skills. However, her coach saw her talent and convinced Brianna to participate in the National Kayak Championships the following year. Her coach was right, Brianna was selected to be part of the Junior Australian team only eight months after hoping into a kayak for the first time. After this, she threw all her effort into the kayak and moved to the Gold Coast, where she was accepted into the Australian Institute of Sport in pursuit of her Olympic dream.
In the past five years, Brianna has made the Junior Australian Kayak team and this year made it to the senior team. This year she has competed across Europe and is currently in Italy training for her upcoming world championships. This month she will race in the Senior World Sprint Kayak Championships, which is the qualification process for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
